MEET THE PASTOR
Rev. Dr. Eddie R. Williams, III, born and raised on the Southside of Chicago, is the Pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church (God With Us), located in the Auburn-Gresham neighborhood, in the city of Chicago. He follows in the dynamic pastoral lineage beginning with Emmanuel’s Organizing Pastor, the late Rev. Dr. L.K. Curry, and Pastor Emeritus, Rev. Dr. Rogers W. Jackson. Dr. Williams is the son of the late Rev. Dr. E.R. Williams, Sr. Pastor of South Park Baptist Church for 51 years, and Dr. Lottie P. Williams, an Educator for over 40 years.
The Pastoral ministry of Dr. Williams expands ten years and counting. He believes in living out the Gospel of Jesus Christ. His ministry-style embodies the words of Jesus Christ in Matthew 25, “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me…..whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” By taking the Gospel outside of the walls of the church, Dr. Williams led efforts that have fed nearly 5,000 people, hosted outdoor baptisms, given away thousands of book bags and supplies to kids for school, hosted free community health screenings, facilitated COVID-19 testing and vaccinations, and provided financial empowerment seminars to the church and surrounding communities.
Active in the community, Dr. Williams has served on numerous boards that specifically advocated for the prevention of domestic violence. He also has been involved in numerous task forces within Chicago that advocated for crime prevention, and the improvement of police and community relations. He’s led the church in partnerships with numerous nonprofits that support single-parent households, men and women’s shelters, record expungements, fair housing, and voter registration.
Pastor Williams, a member of the greatest fraternity known to man, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated, graduated from Saint Bonaventure University in New York, double-majoring in Finance and Economics. He received his Master of Divinity from McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago, Il. In March of 2023, Dr. Williams successfully defended his doctoral dissertation and ministry project, and graduated from United Theological Seminary earning his Doctor of Ministry. His doctoral work developed an equipping model for Black men ages 35 to 50 with the biblical and relational tools to Disciple other Black men in the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
For the last 17 years, he’s been the husband to the lovely Lady Tiffany Michelle and father to three wonderfully gifted children, Eddie, IV, Brooke Michelle, and Elyse Raine, and a hundred pound dog, a Boxer named Ali.
